China celebrates the New Year, which in 2013 fell on February 10th. Spring Festival or Chinese New Year is considered the most important traditional national holiday. Nearly 200 million Chinese citizens are now reunited with relatives to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

The most populous metropolis in the world - Beijing was empty, 10 million people left the city and went to their families in other provinces or went on a trip on the occasion of the Chinese New Year. On the unusually empty freeways and streets of the Chinese capital, there are only rare passers-by. According to Chinese media reports, an even more impressive descent of Beijing is expected in the next ten days, as the holidays have just begun.

From a report provided by the Beijing Institute of Planning, Shan He Shui Yi, it became known that this year 80% of Beijing's permanent residents (total of 20 million people) plan to leave the capital due to the New Year holidays.

More than half of them are visitors from various regions of the country who will go to their families to celebrate the New Year. The rest will travel. Recall that the Chinese government takes as much as seven days to celebrate (February 9-15). During this period, most enterprises will not work.
